From the original clay portrait to the finished sculpture
The bronze portrait, structural support, plaque, marble pedestal, and final alignment were developed as interdependent parts of one complete work.
The original portrait
Snider modeled Peter Tuchman at life size in clay, developing the expression, anatomy, stance, clothing, and recognizable gestures that give the finished portrait its character.

From clay to bronze
The completed portrait was prepared for moldmaking and translated into bronze. Assembly, surface refinement, fine detail, and coloration preserved the energy of the original modeled figure.
Fabricated by the artist
Snider fabricated the welded metal support and plaque pedestal and personally shaped and hand-carved the marble foundation. These were made as components of the artwork, not selected as standard display parts.
The finished presentation
Bronze, welded metal, carved marble, plaque, proportion, and placement were aligned in the final assembly so the Peter Tuchman portrait would stand as one authored and architecturally resolved work.
