Reading the image on a metal support

Lion Boss Cigare pairs an animal subject with the human associations of a title such as “Boss.” The cigar named in the title adds another cue to that characterization. The work can be approached as a portrait with an invented persona, rather than as a straightforward wildlife image.

The aluminum support is an important part of the object’s identity. It distinguishes this work from a painting on canvas or a print on paper, but the listing’s broad “mixed media” description does not specify every surface layer. Ask for the complete material and finish information when considering care or display.

Viewing a 58-inch-wide work

At 46.5 by 58 inches, the work occupies a substantial horizontal area. Evaluate it from the intended seating position as well as close to the wall. Images taken from several angles can help separate the appearance of the surface from glare caused by the room’s lighting.

Before acquisition, request front, back, edge, and signature photographs; confirm the work’s condition, mounting system, and available documentation. Ask about weight and hanging requirements for the actual object rather than estimating them from the material alone.
