Kate Paul

Kate Paul is a Wrocław-based artist born in Wrocław, Poland, in 1988. She holds a master’s degree in painting and drawing from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and has also studied ceramics. Following work in graphic and ceramic design, alongside performing as a bassist and singer, she began painting full time in 2018.

Her practice centers on abstract calligraphy, exploring language, identity, and cultural memory through layered letters, fragmented signs, and concealed text. Informed by ancient and contemporary writing systems, her compositions incorporate passages in English, German, and French beneath expressive calligraphic forms.

Drawing inspiration from street calligraphy, graffiti, and weathered posters, Paul combines acrylic, oil, and markers with an experimental approach shaped by painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and glass. Her works transform writing into a visual language that carries meaning beyond literal translation.
