Wyland is an internationally recognized marine-life artist and conservationist whose paintings, sculptures, photography, writing, films, and public murals center on the ocean and the natural world. Born in Detroit, he was profoundly influenced by seeing the Pacific Ocean for the first time in Laguna Beach, California, an experience that helped establish whales, dolphins, water, and marine ecosystems as enduring subjects.
Between 1981 and 2008, Wyland completed more than one hundred monumental marine-life murals through his Whaling Walls project. These civic-scale works brought ocean imagery into public spaces around the world and joined artistic spectacle with a message of environmental responsibility. In 1993, he founded the Wyland Foundation to encourage protection of clean water and a healthy planet through art, science, education, and conservation.
Collectors value Wyland for his recognizable marine imagery, public-art legacy, technical range, and sustained commitment to ocean awareness. Art R us offers select works for collectors seeking art with an emotional connection to marine life and an established conservation narrative.
